Point Defiance Zoo Lights - Tacoma

zoo lights christmas photography

Last week, Daniel and I decided to visit the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium in Tacoma, WA to take a look at their yearly Christmas light display. We have heard many times before that this is a must-do, especially if you have children, and we certainly were not disappointed by the colorful arrangements and beautiful details.

Recipe: Health-Boosting Apple Kale Smoothie

Nowadays, green smoothies seem to be everywhere, and everybody who cares about health knows about them and has tried at least one recipe. If you haven't, you really need to get started. What works for stars and celebrities definitely also works for us "normal" people. Green smoothies are not just super healthy and nutrition-rich, but also taste amazing!

7 Amazing Things To Do In Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Living in Colombia has been great, especially because we have the chance to visit amazing places in this beautiful country and all around it. It also makes traveling to other countries close by so much more affordable than it would if we were still in the U.S. Determined to make the most of our stay, Daniel and I took some time of from work and university earlier this year and explored some other countries in South America.

As our first stop we chose Rio de Janeiro, a place both my husband and I have been wanting to visit for a while. The city, known as the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City), attracts millions of tourists each year, making it Brazil's most visited city. This is no surprise, as Rio offers something for everyone - from spectacular beaches and beautiful sceneries, to plentiful museums and non-stop nightlife.

Recipe: Guilt-Free & High Protein Cookie Dough

The first time I had protein powder after the gym (about 3 years ago) I could hardly get it down. Mixed with only water, it really wasn't delicious at all and didn't have the creamy consistency described on the package. Since then, I have constantly been trying to find different ways to make protein powder taste better - no matter as a shake or a treat.

We Were Born To Be Real Not To Be Perfect

During the last couple of month, I experienced a lot of changes. I stopped working out due to my chronic neck pain getting worse, I took a break from studying since we spend a couple of weeks traveling through South America and I started caring less about the things I put into my body - mainly because I got used to (over-)indulging during our trip. At the end, I felt constantly tired, unmotivated and honestly a little depressed.

10 Bad Beauty Habits To Break Today

While all of us long for a healthy and youthful skin, some of our daily habits and routines can actually harm it - without us even knowing. We might wonder why our skin breaks out even though we wash it daily, or why we have to deal with dry patches and tightness despite exfoliating often. If you want your skin to look and feel better, you need to avoid these 10 bad habits.

"No Phones On The Table" - The Rule of Unplugging Yourself

On Sunday, Daniel and I met with some friends for dinner at one of my favorite restaurants here in Bogota. We hadn't seen our friends for a couple of weeks (life happens), so our evening was filled with interesting conversations and heartfelt laughter (and great Thai food!).

If you ever go out with me and my husband, you have to be aware of one rule we have: No phones on the table.

Be Fit: How To Finally Enjoy Running

nike, fitness, and girl image

Running has never been something I truly enjoyed. In the gym, you will see me dancing embarrassingly during Zumba classes or getting some strength training on - but never on the treadmill.

Running is hard and I personally find it boring. There are so many other fitness activities that I enjoy more, so I usually avoid running at all cost. My husband on the other side is a born runner who sprints with such ease that it turns me green of jealousy. He just makes it look so easy and fun!

DIY: Beautiful and Easy Paper Plate Cookie Baskets

I love easy DIY's that you can put together in only a couple of minutes and that don't need much preparation!

Over the month of December, I baked a lot of cookies (check out my recipe for high altitude cookies here) for friends, family and my husbands work place. I usually give away my cookies and other baked goods in Tupperware (which will never be returned) or stacked on paper plate (which looks kind of cheap).
