Germany... such a fun place! Especially for me, since it's my home, and my husband who LOVES beer (especially Hefeweizen). During our time at my home in December 2014 I introduced him to something almost better than beer (at least during the cold winter time) - Gluehwein! There is nothing better than spending time at a Christmas Market, buying handcraft items, eating some delicious food and drinking some hot and steamy Gluehwein :)
Gluehwein (mulled wine) recipe:
750 ml dry red wine
1/2 skin of a lemon
80 gr. sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
juice of two oranges
7 - 10 cloves
125 ml orange liqueur
Directions:
Mix all ingredients expect for the orange liquor and slowly heat them up on the stove top (covered). Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes. Then, turn of the stove, add the orange liqueur and cook for another 3-5 minutes with the remaining heat. Next, remove any little pieces with a strainer and enjoy hot!
